Samar Banerjee born in 1931, in Bali, Howrah. His father was Late Sasanka Sekhar Banerjee.

College Football : He was the Captain of R.G.Kar Medical College Football Team in the year 1952 and 1955 to win Illiot Shield for College.

His First appearance in Kolkata Football League in Milan Samity Club and after that he joined Bali Prativa Club and After that Bengal Nagpur Railway (B.N.R) Team.

CAREER AS A FOOTBALLER OF MOHUN BAGAN A.C.

1952 - Joined Mohun Bagan Athletic Club in the IFA Shield where the Club was the Joint Winner


1953 – Played for Mohun Bagan Athletic Club both in Calcutta Football League & IFA Shield


1953 - :Mohun Bagan Won the DURAND Cup Football Tournament under his Captaincy for the First Time I (Mohun Bagan 4 - 0 National Defence Academy ). Sri Badru Banerjee scored for the Club both in the Semi Final and the Final match


1954 – 1st time Double for Mohun Bagan Athletic Club (Winner of both Calcutta Football League & IFA Shield in the same season). The Club beat Hyderabad Police in the final match of IFA Shield


1955 - For the first time in the year 1955 Mohun Bagan won the ROVERS Cup Football Tournament defeating rival Md. Sporting 2 - 1 in the final Bodru Banerjee Was the Top Scorer in IFA League for Mohun Bagan scoring 10 Goals.


1956 – 2nd time Double for Mohun Bagan Athletic Club. Sri Badru Banerjee was the second highest goal scorer after Keshto Pal. Made Captain of the Indian Football Team, which played in the Olympics at Melbourne that year. India became the first Asian country to reach the semi-final stage of the Olympic Football tournament ever.


1958 – was made Captain of the Mohun Bagan Athletic Club Team


1959 – Played for the Club but less involvement due to studies


1960 – Retirement from Football from Rajasthan Club

First Bangali Captain in Olympic

Bodru Banerjee was the first Bengali Indian Captain of Indian National Football Team in Melbourne Olympic in the year 1960 having the distinction of securing the 4th position for the first time as an Asian Team in Indian Football History.
